“Your Old Life”

We left California and landed in a (possibly haunted) cottage by the sea in Iceland.  Disoriented by jet lag and stuck inside for days in a 70mph windstorm, we wrote and recorded “Your Old Life” using the studio we had packed into our carry-on bags, and a piano our piano tuner wanted to burn in the front yard.

It’s one of those songs that is at once deeply personal and is also storytelling about the lives around us and the various ways they seem to fall apart.  Is this about us?  I mean it must be.  Except we don’t really believe we’ll â€śfind it soon”, rather we hope to be at peace with endlessly searching.

we've been living and working on music in Iceland for a month and a half now. What they say -- what everyone says -- is that in Iceland you get to experience all four seasons in one day. It's true, and it's hard to plan. But we've been having a re
